Shimba Hills National Reserve is one of the largest coastal forests in East Africa after Arabuko-Sokoke Forest. The reserve is rich in flora and fauna and hosts the highest density of African elephant in Kenya. It is a habit to animal species like the endangered Sable antelope, elephant shrew, bushy tailed mongoose and other small mammals like fruit bats. Itinerary
Shimba Hills Day Trip begins with our driver picking you up from your hotel at 07.00am and drive to Shimba Hills National Reserve gate about 18 Kilometers from Diani. Arriving at the gate you will start a game watch drive. At around 10.00am you will hike down to Shedrick waterfalls. You can enjoy a cold bath by the waterfall before embarking on another hike back to the parking area.
After the hike we drive to Shimba Hills Green Lodge for lunch. You can watch the animal at the water hole or Shimba Hills Green Lodge facing the vast Mwaluganje sanctuary, Tsavo plains and in a clear view Mt Kilimanjaro can be observed. Later proceed on with the game drive after lunch. Our driver will then drive you back to your hotel arriving later in the evening.
