Diani Village tour starts with a visit to the Kaya Kinondo Sacred forest. This is one of the last remaining of primary patches of primary coast Rainforest in Kenyan Coast worth visiting. This forest is sacred to the Digo people. Visiting this small forest is a nature walk, historical journey and cultural experience. As you make your way across tangled roots and chunks of ancient coral, the guide points out various plants species used in traditional medicine, and there’s the chance to transmit your fears and worries to an ancient tree by hugging it.
Before entering the Kaya Kinondo you have to remove head wear, promise not to kiss anyone inside the grove, wrap a black kaniki (sarong) around your waist and go with a guide, who will explain the significance of some of the 187 plant species inside including a ‘Viagra tree’.
Kaya’s (sacred forests) have been identified in the Kenyan Coast, all of which were originally home to Mijikenda villages. The history of the forest will be explained to you by a guide who will take you through the forest trails.

There after you will visit a local village of the community and learn their way of living. Kaya Kinondo and Village tour takes about 3-4 Hrs and is inclusive of; Return transport in a private Tuk-tuk, Kaya Kinondo Forest entrance fees and Guide fees.
